My 10 mo. old maltipoo is mostly housebroken when i'm home. But when i'm at work he has at least 5 bowel movements and pees alot too.
when he gets older will this cut down some?
Hi Angela
Yes, as he gets older he will probably need to pee and poop less often, but being a small breed dog he will still need to go fairly frequently (at least in terms of urination).
BUT, unless you teach him that the house is not the appropriate place for him to 'do his business' he will still use your home as a toilet.
I would strongly suggest that you get a crate and begin to crate train him. He should have reasonable bladder and bowel control at his age, and this will prevent most of the opportunities for him to eliminate indoors.
Puppies are creatures of habit and you need to get this bad habit eliminated as soon as possible.
You can also find more general information on housebreaking on my Potty Training page.
Best of luck.
