I have two 15 week old puppies who both have the same type of small squishy lump on their left sides just below the rib cage that appears to have a small hole on the top.
Nothing is oozing and I am afraid to squeeze it as I don't want to hurt them. Could this be an insect bite or something more serious?
Hi
If it was just one puppy I would have guessed a bite or sting, but for two to have the same type of lump in the same location seems a bit too co-incidental for a bite. But it's still possible.
A harmless cyst of some sort would be another possibility, these are fairly common in puppies, but again it's strange that they both have one in the same location.
I'd really recommend that you have your vet take a look at these lumps just to make sure all is well. Generally 'lumps and bumps' in puppies aren't anything serious, but it's always best to know what you're looking at.
Don't try to do anything with these yourself as you don't know what they are. If you try to squeeze, open or investigate them too much it could end up leading to infection, which will be more of a problem.
Sorry I can't help more but wish you the best of luck and hope these lumps turn out to be something very minor.
