18 day old lhasa apso pups with a lump at the bottom of stomach

my bitch recently had a litter of 7 lhasa apsos, today I have discovered that 4 of them have developed a lump at the bottom of their stomach.

they seem fine in themselves, could it be from bloatedness or that the mother isn't stimulating them correctly?

or could it be an inguinal hernia???

thank you, paula

Hi Paula
I'd really recommend that you take these puppies to your veterinarian and have him/her take a look at them.

There are several different possibilities I would imagine. Constipation could be the problem, although in puppies who are nursing from their momma this is pretty rare.

Hernias in puppies are usually umbilical hernias and appear at the site of the umbilical cord/navel.

There are lymph nodes in the groin and lower abdomen area and I guess it's possible that these are swollen, this would indicate an infection. But as the puppies seem healthy otherwise, whether that's to blame I've no idea.

I'm not a veterinarian and I really can only guess at what's going on and that's not good enough when you have a possible health concern. I strongly recommend that you get these little guys to your vet as soon as you can so that you can find out what's causing these lumps and make sure that they get treatment if it's needed.

Sorry I couldn't help more. Wishing you lots of luck and hoping that your pups are 100% healthy soon.
