2yr old pup's back legs slide apart

My pup has a heart murmur. He gets beta blockers for this. My pup is very dim and can't reason things well at all. We have noticed lately that his back legs slide apart when he is standing or if his back is touched at all. When on the lead he is strong and can run really quickly (to the point that he is pulling on the lead even up hill)

He is a bit off balance and clumsy, doesn't like steps or stairs and he has trouble going up or down. He eats well and does not have any tummy problems...... He is sooo sweet!!! Would like to make sure he is getting all the best care that he can.

Hi Ang
I'm sorry to hear that your puppy has so many issues to deal with, but it's clear that you all love him very much and that he has a happy and secure home. So, he's luckier than many pups and dogs and I'm sure he's happy.

The problem with his back legs is one your veterinarian will need to check out. As he is strong when on the leash it seems odd that he is so weak when stationary. It could possible be a nerve or joint problem, or something neurological. But I'm not a vet myself so there's no way for me to tell what's wrong and I sure don't want to guess.

Hopefully it's something simple and your vet can make the diagnosis for you, as he can walk, run etc. at other times I sort of doubt that it's something serious but you definitely should have it checked out to be sure.

I wish you the best of luck and hope your little guy continues to live a long and happy life.
