3 1/2 month old Yorkie

I had her face, feet and fanny (anal area) groomed. Her anal area is swollen and she is in pain. I put cold paper towel on it. And also put little Neosporin with pain relieve. Any other suggestions.

Wish I would not have had grooming done. She is normally very playful Breaks my heart !!!

I'm so sorry that your pup is in pain, I know that must be horrible for you too!

Having a pup or dog groomed properly is important, especially for the long-haired breeds, and Yorkie puppies often do much better with a nice, neat 'puppy cut', but choosing a well-trained and professional groomer is important.

It's possible that the shampoo or other products used have irritated your pups delicate skin around her anus, or maybe even that she was 'nipped' with the scissors.

Really, the only thing you can do unless there's an obvious injury is to try to soothe the area with cool water, and a gentle antiseptic-type cream. I'd suggest trying a diaper-rash cream.

Hopefully within a day or two she'll be doing better. However, if she isn't, or there's any noticeable injuries to that area, have your vet take a look at her to see if there's anything else you need to do.
