3 month old pitbull puppy has red spots on her vagina HELP

by Ashlee Jones
(sacramento, ca)

i just noticed today my pit bull has red dots on her vagina and surrounding it.. what can be causing this?

do i need to take her to the vet?

Hi Ashlee
Chances are this is a rash caused by her licking herself, or from lying on non-absorbent or wet surfaces.

It could be a staph infection if the spots are tiny and red, with a white top.

Keep the area clean and dry, using a mild antibacterial wash and drying it gently, should help. If the spots don't clear up, take her to your vet as she may need antibiotics.

Best of luck with your puppy.

Could be what's stated above....if its due to licking or laying in grass u can try to monitor that, but if its infection the dog will need antibiotics and cleanings. Depending on the age and interaction with other dogs, it Could also be an std or sti ....have the vet check her out if it doesn't go away after a couple days.
