From what you describe, my first reaction would be that he's ingested something poisonous, and this could be fatal if not evaluated and treated right away.

Of course, there are other options such as internal injury, bloat (see Canine Bloat) and more, many of them are very serious and potentially fatal.

Please get your pup professional vet care now. If your own veterinary office is closed, look for a 24 hour pet hospital or similar.
