My German Shepard had 12 puppies 1 died at birth other bitches got to it tossing it before I got mom into birthing box... 2 died this weekend listless, lethargic, did not want to feed, grey sticky feces...2 more dead this morning. I gave my cousin one to take to vet since she wanted him, and neighbor took another since he wanted him also....
I have four left they look robust and running around, except for one.... what is it? first time my Bisquet has pups, she has had all her shots, I just could not give her her rabies this year since she was pregnant. I don't know if going to Vet is pointless....
Hi Sara
I'm so sorry to hear about what is happening to your pups, that must be heartbreaking.
I'd definitely recommend that you get these little guys to your vet for an examination as it sounds to me as though they have contracted something infectious. Although your dog has had all her shots minus the Rabies, these pups are still vulnerable to infection.
Depending on what is causing the symptoms you may be able to save the remaining pups, and I'd definitely not consider that pointless. If it's < ahref="http://www.the-puppy-dog-place.com/canine-parvovirus.html">Canine Parvovirus, then without treatment they will almost certainly die. With treatment there are no guarantees, but at least they have a fighting chance. I'd say that's worth the effort. Also, bear in mind it could be something less lethal than Parvo, but only your vet can figure out what's going on.
The pups that have already gone to new homes may still show symptoms within the next few days and if they do they will also need veterinary attention. The sooner you get a diagnosis the better chance these little ones have. They're relying on you.
I wish you the very best of luck and hope that these remaining puppies make it.
