My 5 week old pup has a green discharge from her eyes and won't walk. Her front paws are fine, she won't stand on her back ones.
I started an antibiotic yesterday and her eyes look good, could this infection affect her legs?
Hi Linda
This is a question for your veterinarian I'm afraid, as I think the only way to find out for sure what's going on here is to get your pup a proper 'hands-on' evaluation.
I've not seen this sort of combination of symptoms myself and can't imagine how an eye infection could result in a loss of mobility in the rear legs. However, an pus and infection in the eyes can be a symptom of a more systemic infection, so it's possible that the real problem lies elsewhere.
If this pup was walking normally previously, then she definitely needs to be seen by a vet asap. It could possibly be a neurological condition, a spinal problem, injury and so on. It's just not possible for me to figure out which one.
I wish I could help more, but with you the very best of luck and hope this little girl is doing much better soon.
