6 wk old lab, how to take care of her

My boyfriend just got me a lab puppy. she is 6 weeks old. Last night she pee'd on the floor and it was blue, green, and yellow. Is this normal?

Was she took away from her mother too soon? What should i give her? Also, today all she has done is sleep. She barely ate anything, is this normal? HELPP!!!

Hi
Your puppy shouldn't have left her momma and siblings until she was at least 8 weeks of age, right now she's a very tiny baby and won't even have any basic bladder/bowel control. She will need lots of love, attention and patience and you mustn't expect much of her in terms of housebreaking/training etc. just yet.

It's not normal for a puppys' urine to be blue. Yellow/green...yes, blue... no. However it's possible that she peed on something that bled blue coloring into the stain, or that she'd eaten something that caused the blue tint (I know a pup who ate an orange crayon and peed and pooped orange for days!).

Many puppies sleep a lot during the first few days in a new home, it's their way of dealing with the stress they're going through. Also, at only 6 weeks old your puppy will naturally be sleeping more than an 8 or 10 week old pup would.

I'd strongly recommend that you check out these pages on my site as they have tons of tips and advice that will help you.

You also need to have your pup examined by a vet as soon as possible and get her started on her puppy shots and deworming.

Hope this helps. Best of luck with your new puppy.
