7 DAY pitbull runt seems like it's always on his back and cant roll over

why can't this runt roll over and crawl like the other pups?

it stays on his back till i put him on his stomach few minutes later he's back on his back....

Hi
I'd recommend that you have this puppy examined by a veterinarian to make sure that he doesn't have any underlying health issues that are causing this problem.

The 'runt' puppy is often perfectly healthy, just smaller, than his/her littermates due to position and nutrition in the womb. In that situation this little pup will often grow up to be as big and strong (sometimes bigger even) than his brothers and sisters.

However, sometimes the smallest puppy has health problems that have interfered with his ability to grow and thrive. Heart issues, defects of the palate and neurological conditions may be there, but not visible to the naked (or untrained) eye.

This little pup seems to be developing more slowly than the others and it could simply be that physiologically he's more immature, but he could have one of the problems mentioned above - or some other health problem.

The only way to find out for sure is to have your vet take a look at him. If there is something wrong, the sooner you find out the sooner you can get it taken care of so that this little guy has the best possible chance of reaching his full potential.

Best of luck with your puppies.

I have a 4 week old runt Lab, Tiny Mighty. He's always been a little different, but today was scary. We rushed him to the vet because he was very lethargic and is having trouble walking, especially with his back feet. Our vet says it's most likely a neurological problem. We've had 3 litters of puppies, and this is the only runt that actually has health problems. Hopefully your pup is just a little behind. I think 7 days is too soon to tell though. Good luck. It looks like our family will be blessed with this little runt. I've even been googling dog wheelchairs. Good luck!! (:
