I have a 8 week old puppy Cane Corso Boxer mix. vet is giving shots on friday he will be exactly 8 weeks on friday.

He seems to be peeing a lot. we just brought him home today tho. 2 or 3 times and hour and i noticed a darker yellow or possibly a tiny tiny little microdot of blood in his pee. but just one time this morning when I think he trying hard to hold it to make it outside.

any help or nothing to worry about yet?

Hi Timothy
Congratulations on your new pup :o)

Young puppies do pee a LOT, usually they need a potty break every 30 minutes to an hour during the day, and twice at night to begin with. First thing in the morning, and last thing at night, they tend to pee even more frequently and often go more than once in one potty break.

It's difficult to tell as you've only just brought your pup home and don't yet know his habits etc. However, urinary tract infections are fairly common in young puppies and it's possible that this is causing excessive urination in your pup.

UTI's cause an urgent need to urinate, usually with some discomfort associated with that, and a pup with a UTI may only pee a couple of drops at times even though he seemed desperate to 'go'! Traces of blood can also often be seen as the infection causes irritation to the urethra.

If your pup seems to be experiencing the above symptoms I would try to get him to see your vet before Friday as he may need antibiotics for the infection. He can get his Bringing Home A New Puppy and New Puppy Care pages as they have lots of tips and advice to help you take care of your new pup.

Best of luck with him.
