My 9 month pitbull puppy, Brock, started drooling excessively. I noticed when I woke up this morning that Brock was drooling all over my bed. Brock is about 45lbs. and never drools normally.
He has his shots, no vomiting, no diarrhea... other than his drooling he is acting normal. Brock does get into things as much as he can. The most recent thing is that he ripped a pillow open and had the cotton all over. I'm not too sure if he ate any or not. Could this be the reason for his drooling?
If he did eat something that is causing him to drool, what can I do until I can get him to the vet?
Hi Amber
Drooling like this is often caused by eating/licking something that's toxic or an irritant. Or because of toothache, a lost tooth, something stuck between teeth, or in the throat etc. etc.
As your pup seems active and otherwise healthy, hopefully it's not something too serious, but it definitely does need to be evaluated by your veterinarian so that you can find out what's causing all this drooling.
All I can really recommend is that you get him to your vet asap I'm afraid, that's the only way to get an answer. Best of luck, hope he's back to normal soon
