About female puppy being spayed

Hi I just had my 6 month female puppy spayed yesterday and for a little while I had the E collar on her so she wouldn't lick her incision, but now she is scratching it with her hind foot is that bad?

Hi Tonya
It really depends on how hard she's scratching! If she is able to break the skin, or pull at the stitches etc., she could set up an infection at the site of the incision.

I would recommend talking to your vet about this and ask his advice.

This behavior will settle down within a few days, so try to keep her distracted as much as possible 'til then - maybe a couple of new, interesting (or tasty) toys, and a bit of extra attention?
