I already own a two year old american dog and wanted to add another to the family, is this a good idea?
Hi
Well, a lot depends on your individual situation. If you have the time and money to take care of a puppy (and having done this once you know how time consuming and expensive this can be), and your older dog is good natured and well mannered, then it could work out very well.
When you bring another puppy into the family it's best if it is one of the opposite sex to the resident dog. Most adult/mature dogs will be fine with a puppy, but as it turns into adolescence and becomes more mature, trouble can brew between two dogs of the same sex.
You can find lots of information, tips and advice on adding another dog to your home on my Introducing A New Puppy page.
Best of luck!
