Beagle has bump on ear

I have a 10 month old beagle. About a week ago we noticed this pea-size hard bump on his ear. It's not inside his ear, just on the flap, toward the bottom.

It's just hard, there's no visible puncture to his ear, or anything being discharged. You can feel the bump on the under side of the ear too. It feels like a frozen pea.(besides the cold part)

It sounds as though this may be a small cyst. It's also possible that it's a remnant from a bug bite, or a tick-bite, and although the bite has healed there's some inflammation left.

If it's not swollen, red, or painful then chances are there's no infection, so it's not something I would panic about.

Most little cysts like this are not serious, but if it grows, gets irritated or infected, or bothers him your vet may want to remove it. It's also possible he will want to do a small biopsy if it is a cyst, just to be certain it's all okay.

I'd recommend taking your pup to your vet and ask him to take a look. If it's a simple cyst, or just some left-over inflammation at least your mind will be put at rest.
