Beagle hump

My beagle is about 3 almost 4 years old and she just developed a hard hump on her right back side.

It's been growing a lot more and we took her to the vet but all he said was that it was love handles just like people have. But we've been walking her more often and not feeding her as much to lose weight but it doesn't seem to help the hump whatsoever.

If anyone knows what it may be I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

I can't really say what this is, as it's something I've not actually seen.

The vet's suggestion that it's 'love handles', makes sense, but you would expect it to be soft if it's fat deposits. Plus love handles indicate two of them, one on each side. If she only has the 'hump' on one side then that diagnosis doesn't seem to fit so well.

If it's not improving, or is getting worse, I would recommend taking her back to your veterinarian. If you're still concerned after that, don't be afraid to seek a second opinion.

It may be something very simple, and even may be a symptom of being overweight, but it's always better to be safe than sorry.
