Black raised spots on puppy belly

My 3 month old toy schnauzer has raised black spots on her belly which seem to be spreading. They will not come off with bathing.

They resemble pimples in the fact that they fill up with something, pop and then dry yp and peel away like dry skin. She is constantly licking / scratching at them especially after urination outside. Could this be a staph infection. Took her to the vet a month ago - put her on antibiotics for a week...started to clear up but now is coming back.

What should I use to get rid of these spots? Should I bathe her more often?
Daily, weekly?

thanks,
karen

Hi Karen
This does sound like a staph infection, which are fairly common in puppies. The fact that the antibiotics seemed to begin to improve the problem supports that.

I would strongly suggest that you take her back to your veterinarian as I think she probably needs another course of antibiotics in order to clear it up properly.

You can wash her belly with an antibacterial cleanser and make sure that it is dried thoroughly, that may help. But she likely needs antibiotics to clear it up completely.

Best of luck.
