when i first got him he was real small and the people we got him from warned me that it looked like there was an allergy on his head. once i had him i noticed there was more than just hair loss on his head.
so i got some topical medicine i have used it a few times but it just seems to be getting worse. also today i gave him a bath and notice a lump on his back. he eats normal and drinks water normal. but doesn't seem to be gaining much weight.
Hi Heather
I'd recommend that you have this little guy examined by your vet as there could be a number o of different causes for his symptoms.
One of them is Mange, which is a skin condition caused by tiny mites. Mange in dogs causes hair loss and bald patches, can also be itchy or develop a rash or reddened skin.
Pitbulls are one of the breeds that tend to be inclined to get Mange. It is usually treated with special shampoos or dips, but they need to be prescribed by your vet in order to get the right medication.
As he's not gaining weight properly he may also have some other problem and only your vet can make an accurate diagnosis. Mange will not get better without treatment and whatever problem he has it needs to be professionally evaluated.
I wish you the best of luck with this little one and hope he's doing much better soon.
