My 4 month old YorkiePoo started peeing blue-green urine this morning. This evening it is now bright green.
She is not sick at all, happy and playful as usual. Should I be concerned?
Hi
Dark colored urine can indicate that a dog isn't getting enough water, or has a urinary tract infection... but blue, or bright green urine I'm afraid I'm not sure about!
As your dog seems to be acting just fine, I doubt it's an emergency (but I'm not a veterinarian so that's just my personal opinion), but it's not normal.
Could your pup have eaten something she shouldn't? Puppies have a habit of getting into everything, and will eat anything they possibly can. Sometimes with strange, even dangerous, effects.
I know a friend whose pup who ate a whole blue crayon and was peeing and pooping blue for days. Luckily it was a non-toxic crayon, but still not advisable :o) Perhaps your little girl got into something similar?
If you can't think of anything like that, she seems sick in any way, or this strange-colored urine continues, definitely have your vet examine her to make sure that there's not some underlying health issue that's at the root of the problem.
best of luck, hope she's back to normal soon
