i have a 1 week old bull mastiff puppy that has just been taken away from it's mother but his father is here.
i'm wondering what's the best way to keep the puppy alive, will it be able to survive without it's mother if it's fed regularly and kept warm?
please has anybody got advice
Hi Nicky
I don't know why this puppy doesn't have his momma anymore, but if there's any way he can be put back with her then that is the absolutely best option!
If that's not possible (ie she's sick, has died or disappeared) then you need to check out my New Born Puppies page to learn how to take care of him.
It is possible to hand raise a puppy as young as this but it's not easy and takes a lot of time, patience and love. You'll need a bottle and the right type of puppy formula, you'll also need to keep him warm and help him to pee/poop. All the info. you need is on the page I mentioned.
I'd also strongly recommend that you get some help from your own veterinarian and follow his/her advice for keeping this little guy healthy.
I wish you the very best of luck and hope that he grows up strong and healthy.
