chewing things up

I have a 9 month pit bull and he wants to chew everything in sight.

He only wants do it when I put him outside for more then 30 min. what can I do to make him stop?

Hi
Puppies chew I'm afraid, it's one of those annoying but very common puppy habits.

Your puppy is getting older though, and should be past the teething stage. If he's chewing only when he's outside on his own it's probably because he's bored or stressed, or both!

Give him plenty of interesting, sturdy chew toys outside, so that he has something he's allowed to sink his teeth into. Also, be sure to watch him when he's outside, correct him when he chews on something he shouldn't and redirect his attention to one of his own toys.

Most puppies do outgrow this behavior once mature, and your puppy should be considered adult somewhere between 12 and 18 months of age. Until then, use the guidelines above and maybe invest in an exercise pen for him while he's outside, that way he won't be able to get to things he shouldn't.

There are more tips and advice on dealing with this behavior on my Puppy Chewing. Best of luck.
