could my 6 month old German Shepherd puppy have hip dysplasia?

My puppy has never really been able to use his back legs to crawl up on the couch or the bed, but I thought his muscles were just developing. Now it seems like he doesn't even like to stand.

He lays down to eat, and he seems to have no strength in his back legs. He will run with my other dog, but he runs funny. Could it be dysplasia? He doesn't seem to be in pain.

Hi
Yes, it's certainly possible that your pup has hip dysplasia as German Shepherds are one of the breeds that tend to develop this condition. But there could also be a variety of other reasons for the weakness etc. you notice in his back legs.

The only way to tell for sure is to have him examined and evaluated by a veterinarian. In just about any condition, the earlier it's diagnosed, the easier and quicker it is to treat. I'd recommend that you take a look at this webpage Click here to post comments.
