deep cut inner thigh

came home my dog bully had cut inner left thigh,it was deep.took to vet.they told me $800 to put asleep and stitch.

I got the antibiotics which run out in 5 days.I have been trying to raise money however I am a single mom. will his leg heal?if i keep it clean? and if not and I am not eligible for that vet credit thing!is there somewhere in fortworth tx that can help my dog?


they said it was caused from him jumping the fence.He is only 8 months old/41 pounds but still a baby.

That looks like a deep gash, and although antibiotics are very important to prevent infection, something as deep as that really does need to be taken care of by a vet.

I'm not a vet myself, so I don't know if a wound can be stitched at a later date or if now that it's started healing whether it's too late. You'd need to ask a vet that. Other than that, keeping it clean and giving the antibiotics are the best things you can do.

If I were you I'd call around a few of the veterinary practices in your area and explain your situation and ask if they'd be willing to let you set up a payment plan for any treatment your pup may need. Also the local chapter of your Humane Society might be able to give you info. on local, low-cost vet care. Check out their website at www.spca.org and look for a group near you.

I did find mention of a vet clinic in Fort Worth that apparently has reasonable fees, so you may want to call them... ABC Animal Clinic, 500 South Fwy, Fort Worth. Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine also has a veterinary care assistance program but I've no idea whether it would help in your situation or not, still it may be worth checking out...Click here to post comments.
