dog has trouble pooping, maybe be her anal glands?

HI my dog is having trouble pooping she has been scooting her bum on the floor and has been scratching her sides a lot. Her anus looks red.

When she has pooped it seems to just stick to her in a big ball and not come out completely.

Hi
It sounds as though your dog may be constipated, this is no terribly unusual especially in the smaller breeds.

Check out my A Constipated Puppy page to find lots of tips and advice to help overcome this issue.

It could also be that her anal glands are overfull, or that she has worms - both of these conditions can cause 'scooting', but only your vet can determine if either of these is the problem.

Hope this helps, best of luck with your pup.

I just took my beagle mix 8 yr old dog out to poop. It was runny. He has tried several times since and just a little water comes out. He is rotating his butt on the floor in a circle and stops and lays down. He doesn't seem to be in discomfort but this behavior is not normal.

Any suggestions?
