i found this scared sweet female long hair chihuahua and i was hoping to find her owners but no luck yet.
i hate to take her to the shelters cuz they are so full and this doggy is so scared, i will try to pet her and she will stiffen up.it breaks my heart.
yesterday i saw some little white worms in her poop and i know i should take her to the vets but money is so tight and vets are so expensive.
so my question is there a medication i can give her or any place i can call for help.please help me save this doggy!
Hi Belinda
Poor little puppy girl! You're awesome to take her in and try to help her out, it looks like she badly needs some TLC.
The worms you saw definitely need to be treated, as if they're readily visible in her poop, she probably has them pretty badly.
In the long term, a worm infestation can cause anemia or worse, and can be serious. Unfortunately the type of dewormers that you can buy in the stores are not very effective, and you need to know exactly what type/s of worms she has and treat accordingly. OTC worm medicines can also have unwanted side effects.
I know that money is tight and that you're helping this dog out of the kindness of your heart, but she really does need to see a vet if you want to help her get healthy and happy.
You could try calling some veterinarian's offices, and asking if they would allow you to have her treated and set up a payment plan. Some will probably work with you.
Or try calling a local, private animal shelter or the Humane Society.
I really hope you manage to find the help you need for her. Best of luck!
