dog seizures

my dog that is 2-3 years just had her neck shaking and she was twitching and i don't know what it could be...

we just had our family leave with there dogs they stayed up here for a week and that's when it started.

but i dont know what it is, it's like nothing i've ever seen before and her breathing will go up then it will go down.

Hi
It doesn't sound as though your dog had a full-blown 'seizure', as that normally results in total body spasms and loss of consciousness.

It may be that she had a partial seizure, as this usually involves more localized twitching as you describe.

I doubt your family's visit had anything to do with that, unless she was just overstressed due to having so much going on around her.

A virus, epilepsy, low blood sugar, an injury or ingesting a toxin or poison can all cause seizures in dogs.

If this happens again, I would strongly suggest that you take your dog to the vet for an examination. That way you can find out what's causing these episodes and get any treatment started.

Hopefully this will just have been a 'one off' experience, and your dog will be totally fine from now on. Best of luck!
