eye opening

My 3 week old dachshund puppy only has 1 eye open, the other 2 puppys have both eyes open.

Is this something to be concerned about?

New born puppies normally open their eyes at somewhere between 10 days and 2 weeks of age.

Sometimes there can be a little bit of a delay in the very early stages, with one eye cracking open before the other and so on. But at 3 weeks old I'm assuming the pups eyes have been open for several days. If this is the case, and this pup has one eye firmly shut, then you need to have your vet take a look.

It could be that there's a little bit of infection there, or there could be some sort of abnormality, it's impossible to tell without a professional hands-on examination.

Get this little one looked at asap and hopefully it will be something simple and all will be back to normal soon. Best of luck with your pups.
