Found an orange worm when my 6 month yorkie pooped on the floor

My puppy had an accident on the floor and when I went to clean it up there was an orange worm on the floor...

What the heck... Do I need to b worried about our other dog & our children?

Hi Laurs
Worms are extremely common in puppies, in fact the majority of puppies are born with roundworms.

That's why veterinarians deworm puppies routinely several times - usually at the time their puppy shots are given.

Some worms can be transmitted to humans in certain situations, they can also definitely be transmitted to other dogs. Although a minor worm problem isn't anything to be too concerned about in your puppy, if it's left untreated it could cause serious health problems.

I suggest that you read my Puppy Worms page to find out all about this common problem.

Also do make sure that your pup is dewormed by your veterinarian regularly (you may want to ask him/her about deworming your other dogs too as a precaution) and keep his shots and parasite preventative up to date.

Hope this helps, best of luck with your puppy.
