My 1 month old female golden retriever is not very healthy. I just bought her a few days ago and she didn't have anything the first day but I got her at night. not even milk. but later on she had some food and she vomited it and she had loose motion.
What should I do? my vet says that she has a virus and she might not make it but is there any hope??? she is very small but playful.
Hi Nafisa
I'm sorry to hear that your puppy isn't well. Your vet has diagnosed her with a virus, and it really depends on what particular virus she has and what treatment she receives as to her chances of survival.
Early supportive care (IV fluids, rest and antibiotics for secondary infections) give her the best chance. You seem to have caught this early on and if she's still playful and receiving treatment, she may well recover from this.
You may want to check out my Dog Illnesses page and read up on whatever viral disease your vet has diagnosed. It may help you to understand what she is experiencing and what she needs.
I hope your puppy is one of the lucky ones and that she recovers, I will say a little prayer for her and wish you the best of luck.
