this is him about to vomit

this is him about to vomit

what's wrong with my puppy? My puppy is a dachshund mixed with papillion.

he's vomiting several times. He seems lethargic and starts whimpering. He's skinny enough to see his rib cage and is sleeping way to often. He won't eat or drink. when we try to feed him, he vomits.

what should i do? He has been like this for about a day now.

Hi Debbie
Your little puppy is very sick and if you don't get him to a veterinarian right away I'm afraid he may not survive.

These type of symptoms in a young, unvaccinated, puppy can be caused by several serious, contagious dog illnesses. It could even possibly be canine parvovirus, which is often deadly. Of course, it could be something less serious than Parvo, but any illness which causes vomiting and diarrhea like this will result in dehydration which can cause all sorts of problems by itself.

I'm afraid this isn't anything that I can help with and you need to get this little guy to your veterinarian immediately. That's the only way to get an accurate diagnosis and the treatment he desperately needs.

I wish you the very best of luck and hope he makes a full recovery.

Thank you for your help.We took him to the vet. It turns out the puppy did have parvo. He survived after receiving his treatment and is a lot better now. He is starting to eat and drink and play around. The vet said it was a miracle that he survived because of how young he was. They said he had a small chance of surviving but when we brang him back the next day to receive his treatment, they were surprised to find him alive.Once again thank you for your help.
