grey mucus from puppy's anus?

my new corgi/ beagle puppy has a grey mucus coming out of his anus, what does this mean?

Mucus in a puppy's stool or digestive tract indicates inflammation or upset of some sort.

It can be caused by a sudden change in diet, stress or viral/bacterial infection.

If your puppy seems happy and healthy apart from the mucus then chances are it's something minor. However, if he's showing any other signs of dog illnesses, such as puppy diarrhea or vomiting, extreme lethargy or loss of appetite then you need to get him examined by your veterinarian right away.
