I just got a 6 month old Great Dane puppy. I was informed he was the only puppy out of the litter that survived parvo.
His eyes looks like he is crossed eyed, could that be something the parvo caused and what other health issue should I look for?
Hi Tracey
The majority of puppies who contract Canine Parvovirus do not survive, so your pup is one of the lucky ones and must be a fighter.
I doubt the eyes are anything to do with Parvo as I've never heard of that type of side effect. There are sometimes long-term side effects, but most dogs recovery fully although it takes a couple of months for them to get back to normal.
Depending on how long ago your pup actually had Parvo, you may still see some issues, or may not. Digestive problems (such as puppy diarrhea, puppy vomiting and so on), and immune system problems are the most common problems seen in pups recovering pups. Occasionally there may be some cardiac damage.
I'd recommend that you have your vet check out your puppy to make sure his eyes are okay, but apart from that, if he seems healthy now I doubt you have anything to worry about in terms of Parvo effects.
