My Siberian Husky puppy, River, is about 7 weeks old, due for her shots next week and has already been dewormed. So, last night, she did not eat, last night was the day we received her.
Now, today I just fed her by hand and she ate only a bit, then I tried mixing it with water and she ate a bit too. Her sisters (two of them) are with my sis and mother in law so they have each other while our dog is all alone.
I'm just wondering and hoping to stop worrying because she just lays down, whimpers and falls asleep. She'll whine after a while outside so I'm just wondering whether it's a matter of getting used to her new surroundings and not anything else.
She'll be seeing her vet Monday for the first shots, so I'll ask by then. But I'm hoping to get some sort of answer soon.
Hi
It's always difficult to be sure exactly what is causing a puppy to behave this way, but during the first few days in a new home it's definitely very common.
I have lots of information and advice on what to expect during this time, plus tips to help you decide whether or not a trip to the veterinarian is needed on this page.. Bringing Home A New Puppy. I think it will help you a lot and put your mind at rest.
Your pup obviously still needs to be seen by your vet on Monday for shots, deworming etc., but right now I'd recommend reading the above page very carefully as it should have everything you need to know. Best of luck with your new pup.
