JUST GOT A BOXER MIX FROM AF ON XMAS EVE AND HE'S LETHARGIC AND ONLY HAPPY WHEN OUTSIDE. EATS GOOD AND DRINKS OFTEN, BUT EVERY TIME HE'S POOPED ITS BEEN LIQUID.WHEN INSIDE THE HOUSE HE SLEEPS MOSTLY





Hi Mike
Many puppies go through a period when they seem very quiet and lethargic when they first come into their new home. They may be a bit off their food and seem withdrawn too. This is usually due to the stress of the move and changes going on around them, and only lasts a few days to a week or so.

Diarrhea can result from stress, or a sudden change in diet, traveling or a combination of factors.

However, it's always a bit tricky for a new owner to differentiate between stress/diet-related problems and real illness. If your puppy has periods of happy playfulness (even if it's only when he's outside), isn't suffering from repeated vomiting or bloody/water diarrhea, and is eating and drinking okay, chances are he's just going through this adjustment period.

But, if he seems sick in any way or is displaying the symptoms above, seek veterinary help immediately. There are several contagious dog illnesses that can make puppies very sick indeed. If in doubt it's always better to be safe than sorry and have your vet take a look at your pup.
