help with yorkie puppy

i just got a Yorkie he is 9 weeks old i have had him for 4 days. tonight i noticed that he had poop stuck to his bum/in his bum and i don't know what to do! he is clearly uncomfortable and it's like 1:30 am what can i do to help him?

Small breed pups do tend to get constipated more than the larger breeds and what you describe is called 'Mechanical Constipation' or 'Psuedoconstipation'.

If he's really 'blocked up' and can't poop he will need to see a veterinarian to empty his bowels properly. If it's more of a minor problem , after you've trimmed away the hair and cleaned his anal area he may be able to pass the bowel movement by himself.

Once you get this immediate problem taken care of there are things you can do to help keep his bowels regular and prevent future episodes of constipation. Visit my A Constipated Puppy page for lots of tips and advice on this.
