I woke up today and noticed my dogs eye was barely open, she had a lot of eye mucus. After I cleaned that I noticed her left eye is glazed over.
She is ten months old and she is outside during the day and I want to know how severe it is. I plan on taking her to the vet.
Hi Dal
It sounds as though your dog may have injured her eye.. perhaps scratched it on something sharp, or got something in it. This leads to the 'milky' glazed look and the mucus is probably sign of an infection starting up.
You need to get her to your vet right away so that he can examine her eye and see what's wrong.
Often a minor injury can be treated with antibiotics and possibly some protection, but the longer you leave it the higher the chances that it will end up being a serious problem.
Untreated an eye injury or infection in dogs can lead to loss of vision, and other serious issues, so do get her examined right away.
I wish you the best of luck and hope your dog makes a full, and speedy, recovery.
