How can my puppy get better? Will he die?

by Valerie
(Coachella)

Just today he started acting strange he won't eat and he just lays there. When i saw him a while ago he was laying down looking up at me and he was kind of shivering but not really and he looked really upset or sick.

I am really scared because i once had a puppy like that and she died and i am still paying off the 2 thousand dollar bill. Is he going to get better? Is there any home remedies that are not expensive that i can try to help before he worsens because i don't want him to die.

Hi Valerie
I'm so sorry that your puppy is sick, but I'm afraid that I can't say what is wrong with him.

I'm not a veterinarian, but from what you describe he is really feeling unwell, and it could be one of the common, contagious dog illnesses that puppies are so vulnerable to. Possibly even Parvo.

I'm sorry to say that without a proper, professional diagnosis there is absolutely no way to tell what is wrong with your puppy, and only a veterinarian can help him. Home remedies are only a possibility once you know what the problem is.

Even if it is Parvo, or something else serious, your puppys' best chance of getting better (and not dying) is to be seen by a vet. If money is a real issue, some vets will work with you on a payment plan, or allow you to treat the pup at home with medications and a treatment plan they provide -which keeps the cost down somewhat.

Your puppy can't help himself and he needs you to take care of him. Please, please take him to a veterinarian right away. It may not be as bad as you think, but with a puppy you can never take that chance.

I wish you the very best of luck and hope that he gets better.
