I just got a pit bull that is 5 months old.
The bridge of his face is red and around his mouth. There is also red pimples on his stomach.

Does he need to go to a vet or is their something i can do or use to clear the redness?

Hi CS
It takes a little while to learn how to care for a pup/dog properly, especially if it's your first time being a dog-owner. You may find my New Puppy Care page helpful as it has tons of tips and advice and links to all the pages/articles you need. At 5 months old your pup is an adolescent, but the same basics still apply.

As for the rash etc., there are a number of possibilities including a staph infection, puppy 'acne', Mange and other skin conditions. Only a vet can make an accurate diagnosis and I strongly recommend that you have this pup examined by your vet as soon as you can.

These conditions are generally pretty simple to treat, but left untreated they can become a much bigger issue. You also need to make sure this pup is up to date on all his puppy shots and has been dewormed by a vet.

Hope this helps, I wish you the best of luck with your new pup.
