Before I was feeding my seven month's old puppies, puppy chow,I wanted to feed them something better so I bought them natural balance lamb meal & brown rice formula grain. Now they losing their hair.

What food should I switch them to now to correct the problem before it get worse?

Hi Jason
You're right to want to feed your puppies a good quality dog food, it's very important to their future growth and development.

Pitbulls are very solid, muscular dogs, and they need good nutrition to build up the muscle tone and bone structure they need to support it.

Natural Balance is considered a premium food, and I wonder if there could be some other reason for their hair loss. Pitbulls have a higher incidence of mange than some other breeds, this causes hair loss and I wonder if it could be a possibility.

However, you may want to change to another food just to be on the safe side. Try something with totally different ingredients to the Natural Balance food you're using right now.

The Natural Balance 'Duck and Potato' formula is highly rated, and is good for dogs with dog food allergies/sensitivities.

Innova and Eagle Pack foods are also very good, the Innova Evo food is as close to the dietary benefits of feeding a raw diet as you can get while using a commercial food.

Check out my Dog Food Comparisons page to find out about a system you can use to 'rate' any dog food according to the quality of it's ingredients.

On my Dog Food Ratings page you can see a 'score' for some of the top dog foods, calculated using the above ratings method.

Hope this helps. Best of luck with your puppies.
