I have a 21 day old Chihuahua pup whose eyes aren't open yet

I have a 21 day old Chihuahua pup and it's eyes aren't open yet should i be concerned?

Normally new born puppies open their eyes when they're around 10 - 14 days old. However, it can be later and tiny pups like Chihuahuas can be slower to develop.

If there's no swelling, redness or discharge from his eyes and everything else seems normal and he's feeding well and healthy, then I wouldn't panic about this right now. Chances are his eyes will begin to open within the next few days.

However, I would recommend having your vet take a look just to make sure there's no underlying problem, and if you notice any swelling or discharge, or he seems unwell in any way get him seen by a vet asap.
