I picked my puppy up at 8 weeks old I took her to the vets the next day for a check and first vaccines.
I have noticed today 3 days after the vaccine a lump on her back feels a bit like grissle, I am wondering if it is due to the vaccine or if it is something else and I'm worried.
Hi Debbie
That lump you notice on your puppies back is most likely a localized reaction to the vaccinations and is where the needle penetrated your puppy's skin.
These lumps or 'knots' are very, very common and nothing to worry about. They can last anywhere from a few days to several weeks or even a month or more. The area may be tender and painful for a few days, but generally that wears off pretty quickly and a long-lasting lump doesn't seem to bother a puppy after a day or two.
This is the most common type of reaction to canine vaccinations, and there are a whole range of other possible reactions, some of them minor and some more serious. You can read all about puppy inoculations and potential side effects on my puppy shots page.
As you don't mention any other problems and it's now been several days since your puppy was vaccinated I don't think you have anything to be concerned about.
Hope this puts your mind at rest, good luck with your new puppy.
