i have a 3 month lhasa apso, sometimes when she has nothing to do or if she's not busy playing with her toy she most probably scratch her ears.

i do not know what would be her problem because i often clean her ears and i even checked her whole body for any fleas or ticks but i have not seen any evidence of it..

I am just slight worried about it because she is our first pet. please help me.

Hi Lee
What a cute pup, love that face!

I wouldn't panic about this because chances are it's nothing serious.

She may have some ear mites, which are fairly common in puppies, or it could possibly be that you are cleaning her ears too much and irritating the delicate skin, or that whatever you are using to clean them is causing irritation.

If her ears don't look dirty, then I would leave them alone, and only wipe them out with warm water once a month or so. If they do look dirty inside, that could be a sign of ear mites and your vet can prescribe something to take care of it.

Another possibility is dog allergies of some sort. A common sign that a dog is having a reaction to something is constant ear-scratching. But it is usually accompanied by some other symptoms such as excessive licking of the paws, or tummy, face rubbing or skin inflammation or hair loss. If you're not seeing any of these other symptoms it may just be that her ears need a rest!

If you're in any doubt though I would recommend having your vet take a look at her ears to make sure all is well.

Hope this puts your mind at rest some. Best of luck with your pup.
