lump on incision after spay and hernia surgery bulldog

My English Bulldopgof 5 months had hernia and spay surgery. Everything seemed fine for the first 10 days but noticed a purple protruding lump about 1 inch in diameter on the incision about the spot where I think her belly button is.

I am taking her to the vet tomorrow but wonder if she will be alright until then.

Hi
I'm afraid I'm not a veterinarian and I can't say what this lump is, or whether it may be serious or not, but I think a lot will depend on how she's acting.

If this lump seems painful for her, hurts to touch, the area around it looks hot or red, or she's showing any signs of feeling unwell, then I would get her to a vet right away - a 24 pet hospital or emergency facility if necessary.

However, if she seems to be acting happy and healthy, is eating, drinking and eliminating normally and is active and not in any apparent discomfort or pain, then you can probably afford to wait until tomorrow.

This is something that you're going to need to make a judgment call on, as you know your pup best.

It could be that some of the stitches have come loose and the hernia has returned (hernias have a habit or recurring), or it could possibly be due to an infection, or perhaps some scar tissue. Only a vet can really make a diagnosis.

I wish you the best of luck and hope your little girl is 100% recovered soon.
