When my 10 month old goldipoo stretches a lump the size of a large cherry appears from under his rib cage.
Should I be concerned?
Hi
It's impossible to say for sure and I'd definitely recommend having your veterinarian check your puppy out to make sure that there's nothing wrong. However, if he seems happy and healthy otherwise I doubt if it's anything to worry about.
Some puppies and dogs have what my veterinarian called a 'floating rib' (my male Cane Corso had one of these) which appears as a lump below the rib cage - and can only be seen at certain times. Such as when stretching (as you have here), or when leaning down to eat and the abdomen is tucked up.
This is quite normal and needs no treatment and as the pup grows it will become less noticeable.
However, there are also other possible reasons for lumps such as cysts (sebaceous cysts are fairly common) or tumors (very unlikely in a young, healthy pup). Again your vet could determine what is causing this lump so I recommend getting your pup a check up to put your mind at rest.
Hope this helps, best of luck with your puppy.
