my staffy puppy as a lump under his skin on his back
Hi
Generally lumps and bumps on puppies aren't anything too serious and there are all sorts of reasons for them.
If it's on the skin it could be an area that's been injured, or an insect bite, which has become inflamed or even infected. If the area looks red, swollen or feels hot then it's most likely infected and probably needs antibiotics.
If the lump seems to be under the skin it's most likely some kind of cyst. If it's mobile (ie it can be moved around some and doesn't feel fixed to muscle or flesh underneath) then it could be a sebaceous cyst.
These are usually benign and made up of fatty cells, they can appear very suddenly - even overnight - and can disappear just as quickly. If it doesn't disappear on it's own your vet may want to remove it (if it's very large, or is bothering the pup for example).
I'd recommend that you have your vet take a look just to be sure, there are other possibilities too and it's impossible for me to say what it is with any certainty.
Chances are it's nothing to worry too much about but it's important to be safe rather than sorry. Best of luck, hope it's gone soon.
