My dog has been waking up from a dead sleep very wobbly and disoriented. My corgi has seizures so i'm used to it, but this is totally different from my corgi.
This puppy is a dachshund, and I know they are prone to seizures. She wakes up so confused and wobbly. She also throws up, and then is unresponsive for 6-7 hrs afterwards.
After she sleeps it off, it's like nothing ever happened. I have no idea what this could be......
Hi Melanie
I'm afraid only a veterinarian can really help your dog here, and as I'm not a vet and this sounds fairly serious I can't be a lot of help.
It does SOUND as though your Dachshund is having seizures of some sort, the symptoms fit, but it could be all sorts of things and only a veterinary professional can make a diagnosis after evaluating him and running any tests that are necessary.
Epilepsy in dogs is often difficult to control or medicate, and depending on how severe these 'seizures' are, and how often they happen, it may be that no treatment will be required - but your vet has to make that call.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help, but I wish you lots of luck and hope your dog is doing better soon.
