My 13 week old Papillon puppy has some nasal congestion and gagging. Not Coughing. Not Vomiting.

When we got her a week ago I have noticed a very wet nose, almost runny. Since I gave her a bath earlier today, she has been gagging and her nose seems stuffy (still very wet).

She doesn't seem to be eating or drinking as much, but she is eating and drinking.

She has had a check up and the vet says she is healthy. Thank you for your time.

Hi Trena
Congestion isn't really normal in a puppy and could indicate that she has an upper respiratory tract infection. If she inhaled any water during her bath, this could make the symptoms worse.

An infection like this is often minor, but I'd strongly recommend that you get her examined by your veterinarian to make sure that everything is okay.... even though she was earlier given a clean bill of health.

A respiratory tract infection can turn into pneumonia fairly easily especially in very young, very small, or older dogs. Pneumonia is very serious and needs treating with antibiotics so it's not something to take any chances with.

Of course, I'm not saying that she is sick in this way but it's definitely best to have her examined to make sure that she's fine. It's always better to be safe than sorry.

Best of luck. Hope you're pretty little girl is feeling much better soon.
