My border is scratching all the time and biting at his skin causing bald patches, what can we do it is causing him to constantly scratch and bite?
The vet said it should clear after a few weeks but it seems to be getting worse...
Hi
I'm afraid it's impossible for me to say what's causing this problem, but there are several possible culprits including canine skin allergies, parasitic conditions, dermatitis and more.
Only a veterinarian can really make a diagnosis and either treat the issue or give you recommendations that you can follow to help relieve the symptoms. Personally, given the fact that this is very uncomfortable for your dog and getting worse all the time, I doubt it's going to clear up by itself. So, I'd definitely recommend another trip to your veterinarian for a closer look.
If you'd like more information from a veterinary professional, you can get help from an online vet here... Ask Your Dog Veterinary Question Now. It's a cost effective way of getting a preliminary vet's opinion without a vet visit, but chances are good that your pup will need to see a vet in person as well.
You'll also be able to find more information on canine skin problems by using PetMD's Pet Symptom Checker which has lots of very helpful, veterinarian-approved articles on all types of pet health care.
I'm sorry I couldn't help more but I wish you the best of luck an hope your pup is doing much better soon.
