iIhave 4, 2 month old rottweilers and one of them developed some sort of lump under his neck, it's hard to see but you can feel it.
He is showing no signs of pain when i touch it although i've noticed he looks a little different around the eyes.
please help
Hi
I can't really see the lump from the photo but I appreciate you trying to give me a visual, so thank you.
Unfortunately because I'm not a veterinarian I can't be sure what's causing the problem and I strongly recommend that you get your pup to your own vet for an exam so that you can find out what is going on.
The first thing that comes to mind and that you need to check out with your vet is a condition called 'puppy strangles' (real name 'Juvenile Pyoderma' or 'Juvenile Cellulitis').
This is an immune-system disorder which causes the lymph nodes under a pup's chin and on his neck to become greatly enlarged, and in severe cases it can look as though the pup is being 'strangled' by the swelling - hence the name. It can also cause swelling around the muzzle and eyes - which may be why his eyes look a bit 'different' to you.
It needs to be treated by a veterinarian with antibiotics for the infection, and corticosteroids to reduce the swelling/inflammation if it's severe (which your pup's doesn't seem to be.. yet). Usually the treatment is quick and effective. BUT if left untreated it will cause serious problems, including permanent scarring, difficulty breathing and even death.
I strongly recommend getting this little guy to your veterinarian and having him tested for this condition as soon as possible.
Hope he makes a full and speedy recovery, best of luck!
